To start off my week's vacation, I hiked up the Queets River Trail to Spruce Bottom (4 miles of road, and 4.5 miles of trail) and spent a night in the company of kings. The closest tree to my tent was a spruce with an eight foot diameter at the base. The trail itself hasn't been maintained the past two summers and is rapidly disappearing in places of thick undergrowth.
