| | South Fork Hoh River Trail |
| | | It's not very often that a snowstorm hits the lower elevations of the western Olympics. With nearly eight inches of powder on the ground, I ventured up the South Fork Hoh River Trail a couple miles to witness a winter wonderland in the rainforest. The trail itself has sustained considerable damage from the fall storms. Every little creek drainage that the trail crosses has minor slides and many blowdowns block the way. With the snow on top of all this, it wasn't easy to find the trail in a few places.
| | | | | | | | | The following day, I stopped to check out Virginia Falls. Snow was thick over the road, but had already melted out of the trees at that elevation.
