Happy New Year -- I celebrated the New Year at the Hoh River, where there was still over a foot of snow from the week before. It snowed every day I was there, and on the 3rd, Jon and I decided to try and get my truck up to the South Fork Hoh River trailhead. There's one steep hill and no one had been up it in a week besides a 4-wheeler, so we lowered the pressure in my tires and gave it a go. Only had to use the shovel four times. We hiked down to Big Flat and back, and saw a few elk in the process. The next day, we got an earlier start, and made it a mile or so farther. Saw two small elk herds with a raghorn and a few spikes, but no big bulls.
